A concept presented at the VS pack exhibition held in Cognac in December and at the Spiripack competition as a concrete solution that Inessens can propose for the design and development of a label with a low carbon impact, while respecting the codes of a Cognac brand. We worked on all the criteria: design, paper, printing solutions, logistics, transport, economic constraints… that have a positive impact on carbon footprint.
To meet consumer’s expectations, and as part of our CSR approach, we wanted to demonstrate how to optimise the design of a label to reduce its carbon impact.
Thanks to Inessens’ innovative solutions, we are able to offer 2 levels of optimisation, making it easier for our customers to plan ahead.
Optimisation no. 1 focuses on the format, the choice of stock hot foil, a controlled carbon index substrate (Clarens – read the article here https://bit.ly/clarens-premium-en )and the elimination of the background tint and the varnish.
Optimisation no. 2 goes even further, using natural pigments instead of Pantone shades, and eliminating one hot foil element – the one around the edge of the label on the first two models.
The results are clear in terms of coverage rate (-99.2%), paper waste (-33%) and ink waste (down to -200gr), hot foil optimisation (up to 95%), label weight (-36%) and carbon footprint (up to 85%). Even the price of printing is impacted by a reduction up to 61%!
